Well, nobody has left the country yet, but I figured that now is as good a time as any to start my blog. So far I've had a really exciting winter break (does it count as winter break if you're not returning to school at the end of it?), and now I'm back in Portland, trying to figure out what my next step will be. On December 17th I began my adventures by flying to Colorado with Alina. We had so much fun, and I really enjoyed getting to see what her life is like when she's not at Reed.
I'll go into some of the highlights of that trip. We had a really fun trip to the Boulder with Sara on one of my first days there. We went to the mall and found Alina's size and style in the Forever 21 Men's section, and I got to see Alina try on a lot of sexy clothes. Sara and I had feathers put in our hair, and they looked super awesome. We also did our makeup at Sephora - luckily I pull of vibrant colors well, because Sara was my makeup artist. A few days later we went to an awesome gay club in Denver called Tracks, with Sara and her friends Bowen and this other guy whose name I don't remember but who lives in the middle of nowhere. Alina is an extremely sexy dancer, my dress was shiny leopard print and super tight, the gay guys were dancing very inappropriately and the music was technoed-up Top 40. So, naturally it was an amazing night. I did have to drive, though, which I wasn't planning on having to do in Colorado. We also had an amazing Christmas. Alina's family got me presents, including a ukulele, which I'm now learning how to play. We ate an excellent breakfast, visited Alina's grandma and drove up to the mountains so I could see the snow.
The day after Christmas we flew to San Francisco to see our respective relatives. We had different flights, but we got to hang out at the airport together until mine left. I spent the next week at Kelly's house and got to spend time with her and Tino. We also picked up Alina from her grandma's house a few times, and she got to see that there is a crazier version of me in the world in the form of my older sister. We spent New Year's Eve together, eating snacks and watching 24. It's funny how something that would be pathetic to do alone can be the most fun thing in the world with the right person. The next afternoon we took the BART to meet her parents, sister and grandma for Dim Sum. After that we said a teary (on my part) goodbye in the Embarcadero BART Station, and I headed back to my sister's house. After seeing the Black Swan (so hot.) and making a trip to Ikea (so many beautiful textiles!), I flew back to Portland.
So, here I am. I have watched almost four seasons of 30 Rock, become completely nocturnal, and have begun eating only one meal a day. I am looking for a job and trying to find ways to spend my time. Hopefully I'll have more adventures to write about next time!
